Where Does Seed&Legacy Begin?

The Fernandez Family

Nina comes from a wonderful rich culture of melanated people, both sides of her family. Since their arrival to America in the early 1950's from Cuba, they started out a humble group of people who just had a dream to survive. Kind-hearted, good-natured, and fun-loving as they were, financial literacy wasn't readily available to people like these. The young boy in the bottom right being her dad.

Harlem 1958-1971

Here he is roughly a decade later. He tells his daughter, Nina the story of when he was walking through Harlem in the 70's when brownstones were being sold for one dollar per building. Without a basic knowledge in financial literacy, he passed on that opportunity. Too many generations of families are like Nina's family. And, here is where SeedAndLegacy was born.

The Heart Behind the Brand

Nina Fernandez

President & Founder

Nina Fernandez is an 80’s baby that the 90’s raised from New York City. She is a proud black & first generation Cuban woman - an actor who loves storytelling and its ability to reflect and affect the human condition. After graduating NYU, she worked in the service industry to keep afloat. Student loan interest continued to pile up and over the next seven years she kept making one money mistake after another. She wondered, 'why wasn't there more free-flowing information regarding simple finance concepts?' Although a creative to her core, this past year, her business has become strengthening the overall financial health of her community. While establishing Legacy, Nina studied real estate and became interested in securities. Combining these interests became the first steps in positioning her program for the people who most need a pathway to financial freedom by sharing vehicles to creating passive streams of income. The Seed&Legacy platform will not only promote building generational wealth, but she hopes to generate an opportunity to open a free Arts and Finance academy for troubled students in need of emotional and behavioral therapy as an alternative to the school-to-prison pipeline found in distressed communities.
